Unmasked
In 2020, masks were introduced to the world. But some of us had been wearing them for years.
For Fresno County Department of Behavioral Health’s suicide prevention campaign, “Unmasked” highlighted the ways people hide their struggles with mental health.
“Unmasked” revealed that some people internalize their pain because of shame and stigma, and promoted conversations about mental health. It also aligned suicide prevention as a public health issue that’s worthy of attention and care, just like Covid.
To reach the diverse population of Fresno County, this campaign was culturally adapted to Spanish and Hmong.
